About Me
ZEMA aka Melvin Ackah is originally from Montgomery County, Maryland. His roots are from Ghana and Ivory Coast and he now lives in D.C. He is a recent MBA graduate and working professional. Growing up surrounded by music, ZEMA learned to play sax, clarinet, and xylophone, building a deep love for sound from an early age. He was brought up on old school Ghanaian Highlife, Hiplife, and Afrobeats. But fell in love with Amapiano, 3 Step, and Afro House.
ZEMA's sound is shaped by his culture and he enjoys creating vibrant sets that move both the body and the spirit. ZEMA believes there is power in music, one good song can turn a bad day into a great one and loves introducing people to new sounds that create unforgettable moments and connections.
